Now we’re getting into the end of January, most of the major crowdfunding platforms have released their 2014 in review data.
First off the mark was Kickstarter with an interactive look at their most successful projects and statistics. They claimed 3.3 million backers pledged more than half a billion dollars over 22,252 projects.
This was followed by Indiegogo – a platform notorious for not releasing any actual statistics. Instead, Indiegogo looked at it’s most interesting, uplifting, and successful projects in this inspiring wee video.
Over the ditch, Pozible blogged its figures and favourite projects. They claimed $14,151,243 pledged to 3,003 projects by 145,152 backers. It’s an interesting figure because it’s not the total raised. In the same blog post, Pozible claim a steady 55% success rate – one of the highest for a rewards-based platform globally.
But taking into account this figure, it means one could estimate they raised ~$7,783,184 over ~1,652 projects from ~79,844 backers.
Back home, PledgeMe released an infographic looking at it’s most interesting projects. They also dove into the (somewhat limited) equity crowdfunding data from the last 4 months of the year.
And earlier this week, GiveALittle released its very impressive statistics video. This has been a HUGE year for the GiveALittle team – who also rolled out sister crowdfunding site Spark My Potential in August.
GiveALittle raised $12,286,176 last year from 184,667 donations from 5,406 pages.
That’s an incredible year all round from the major players globally, and in Australasia. GiveALittle’s exponential growth in the second half of the year is a sign that crowdfunding is an industry which is taking off. It’s amazing to be a part of it, and I can’t wait to see what these results look like a year from now.
