Lexi is a new New Zealand film set in Oamaru by director Wayne Turner.
It’s a story of a young girl who can’t read, and is struggling in a world where reading and writing are taken for granted. She is striving against great odds to better her life, facing several setbacks along the way. With a challenging employment situation and family demands, life in a small town is not simple for her.
Wayne has dedicated the past two years to getting Lexi onto the big screen, self-funding the filming in Oamaru last year.
The film is now written, shot, and edited, but requires post-production work. Wayne is looking for $12,000 through New Zealand’s crowdfunding platform, PledgeMe. The completion of this work will allow Turner to submit the film to film festivals around the world.
The project offers some amazing rewards, including luxury accommodation and activity packages donated by the local community.
All backers above $25 will be able to watch the film, with plenty of digital and physical rewards for all backers.
Check out the trailer above if you haven’t already to see why this is a story that needs your support.
