The Ordinary Jane Test

The Ordinary Jane test is specifically designed to combat the Curse of Knowledge. It ensures that an ordinary backer, not connected to you or your campaign, can understand what you are doing from your page’s content.

Your campaign will be reviewed by Ordinary Jane. She is a typical Kiwi in most respects except one: she is insatiably curious.

Ordinary Jane likes to know about the world, and when she doesn’t understand, she has no hesitation in asking questions. This is great for you, because it will give you a good idea of how a regular backer might interpret your page.

The Ordinary Jane test can be completed either before you launch, or during your campaign.

So how does it work?

On the next page, you’ll be asked to provide some information about your campaign.

• If you haven’t launched yet, include a link to your video, and a copy of your rewards and campaign page text.
• If you have launched, provide the link to your campaign.

Once you’ve paid for the service, Ordinary Jane will review your campaign. Then Kat will send the results back to you. This process can take up to 3 days.
